Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red. Sweet-framed and enticing, with a little rose petal and soft vanilla to back up the curranty fruits. The wine has super wealth of fruit on the palate and some great tannins, too: chunky, forceful, and serious. Perhaps the fruit is just a little “cool” in style, but this is a margin call and any hesitations are comprehensively counterbalanced by the wines sheer density and depth. Another outstanding St-Julien in what is a great year for the commune. | 92
Michael Schuster | fine, classic, cedar and gravel Médoc nose; medium-full, fresh in acidity, finely firm in tannin; ripe and savory and aromatic to taste, long, even, complex, and with excellent length. Long-term, but full of classy promise. A particularly fine, surprisingly long-term Langoa. 2032–46+. | 93
