Andrew Jefford | Dark, dense opaque black-red in color. Spicy and warm, with luscious and opulent fruit (compared to the Clos du Marquis). Rich and engaging, singing with currants and plums; just a hint of sealing wax and incense spices. Deep and vigorous on the palate, though not as penetrating and arrow-like as the Clos du Marquis. Lots of wealth and depth of fruit, though the tannins are surprisingly soft and reticent; blackcurrants and sloes. This is a very complete, vibrantly fruity Petit Lion which will provide great pleasure for the best part of two decades, and it’s fascinating to compare its fruit style with the equally good Clos du Marquis. | 93
Michael Schuster | Light blackcurrant and gravel to smell; very nicely balanced, medium-full wine, with a fresh acidity and finely firm tannin; briskly ripe in flavor, vital, gently aromatic, a long and satisfying second wine, but needing time due to its firmish tannin texture. 2028–40+. | 90
