Simon Field | Dense russet, walnut hue, long legs and a spirity attack; dried fruit and wild flowers; praline and overripe orange; palate is generous, red-berried fruit and mandarin, juniper and spice; fennel and mint julep behind; impressive intensity, but maybe a touch of faded grandeur, acidity holding firm and good grip, maybe a touch foursquare and even squat when aligned with the cream of its peers. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Dark-hued wine that has not left “red” far behind. Clear, translucent light garnet with scarlet glints. This seems just a little spirity on the nose, but there is ample red fruit still in evidence, too, together with sweet dust and crushed spices, even a little fenugreek. There is vanilla and Chantilly cream, too: attractive and warmly enticing. On the palate, the wine is bright, concentrated, almost aggressive and rather high-toned, with a dry, somewhat fleshless palate. There are some bitter notes in the finish. You might enjoy its concentration, perhaps, but otherwise it is not aesthetically a great success. | 87
Richard Mayson | Good mid-deep color, thin tawny rim; attractive, spicy, fruit-driven aromas, open, gentle, peppery fruit; firm, reasonably tight-knit spicy tannins and well-defined fresh-berry fruit with more than a hint of bittersweet dark-chocolate intensity, well structured. Drinking very well now, with the balance to develop and last much longer. Lovely, lithe finish. | 92
