Michael Schuster | Plummy-ripe Merlot dominates the nose; full-bodied, fairly concentrated, fresh in acidity, firm but fine in tannin, slightly oak-dry at this stage; crisply red-fruit ripe to taste, “claret-dry” with a marked minerality behind the fruit, long and taut and linear, and aromatically persistent to finish; an elegant, complete, long-term Sociando-Mallet, firm but fine, and which will need considerable time—but reward the wait. 2032–45+.
