Michael Schuster | Tight, dense, mineral-infused, blackberry-ripe Merlot nose; rich, fresh-to-vital, firmly but finely tannic, an ample but contained and harmonious constitution; deep and generous in fruit, mouthcoating, finely sinewy, an abundance of ripe fruit defined by a refined muscularity, and backed by its characteristically “clayey” minerality of aromas; ample, contained power, utterly without excess, very tenacious to taste, so even and seamless, and with great, fruit-packed persistence. A splendid, and splendidly elegant, harmonious and complete Trotanoy. Even more class, it seems to me, without tasting them next to each other, than the 2018, but both are great expressions of the terroir. A quite magnificent wine. Give it 20 years if you can! 2040–70+.
