Bruno Besa | Brilliant straw. Intense citrus-fruit character, clean, intense, and aromatic, with lemongrass, grapefruit, chamomile, fresh basil, and mint. Sweet citrus-fruit palate, intense and complex on the finish. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Steel-white. Grassy, fresh, and Sauvignon-like or Muscadelle-like, oddly enough. I’m not sure the aesthetic parameters are fixed for Grillo; there is a huge diversity of “ways of vinifying it” on offer. Like a Sicilian cousin of Côtes de Gascogne. And on the palate, too, even to the extent of leaving it with 4 or 5 grams of residual sugar. Pleasant, tasty, and enjoyable, but fundamentally a commodity wine. | 83
Michael Palij | Very leesy, cheesy nose, with sour cream, yogurt, and guava. This doesn’t give much pleasure, and the meager fruit on the palate doesn’t have enough depth for the acidity. | 82
