Simon Field | Dense saturated purple, the papal robes yet to be worn; heady aromatic of plum and damson, liqueur de cassis and hints of syrup. The palate is warming and generous, with a hint of eucalypt and pine resin beyond the jammy red fruit, far from ersatz, then a warm, savory finish, all embracing and sweetly seductive in its guileless benevolence. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red; almost opaque. Sweet, close-knit and gutsy aromas, with an ample weave of dense plum and bramble fruit—pretty exciting, I have to say. Very sweet and voluptuous without being jammy. Full, thick, and fat on the tongue, and super-sweet, so you might almost imagine there is a little ladleful of PX in here somewhere. Awesome and doubtless an authentic expression of these vines in this place—but very “baroque and roll.” Saved by its tannins, since there is almost no acidity. A kind of Easter Island moai of a wine. Privileged to have tasted it, but when would one drink it? But it is yet another waymark in the astonishing world of Grenache, and the fruit here is denser and more complex in its grain than in [Linne Calodo Sticks and Stones Willow Creek District Paso Robles], hence the higher mark. Astonishing stuff. | 91
David Williams | A wine of sweet and easy full ripeness and perfect poise and polish that fairly billows with dark-berry succulence and cosseting softness, but also has something else—a kind of mineral core, let’s call it—that raises it into a considerably more serious league. | 93
