Simon Field | Ruby to vermillion, little sign of fade but no great intensity. Cherry, forest floor, and hints of iodine. Discreetly mineral acidity, an almost resinous freshness, modest altitude informing a geometrical arrangement that works well for all its components. Herbs and fruit nicely aligned, elegant bearing and a pavonine finish. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red, though just off-opaque. A “drier” less baroque style of aroma than those we saw in the Agly Valley (new terroir again), without the cherubs and gargoyles; more refined, more considered, more understated and restrained, but still enticing and beguiling. Indeed, some may prefer this restraint and discretion. Look for cherry, strawberry, and hazels, with perfumed licorice and a milk-chocolate whisper, all deftly folded and neatly arranged. Poised, lively, clean, balanced, fruity, elegant, and fresh; origami Grenache, but this is a terrific wine in a drinking sense, offering huge amounts of elegant pleasure. Grenache can do elegant, too. | 92
David Williams | Dusky bitter-sweet fruit; intense and dark, interlaced with oak and a ruffle of tannin. A feeling of freshness and harmony, almost discretion, despite the 15% ABV. | 90
