Simon Field | Impressive oaky nose, graphite and coal tar; dark fruit, balsam, and syrup of figs. It is taking a while to open up, for sure, potency in the ascendant in year three, yet there is Palladian rigor written into the first movement of the score. The harmonies are promising a more than impressive development. All is to play for here, and everything seems to be in place. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Dark, deep black-red. Now here is a surprise: I have little experience of this DO, but the scent of this wine is refined, both fruity and warmly savory and in general very enticing, and clearly more successful than our contenders from Castilla, Calatayud, Empordà, Navarra, and even Rioja. Mature, balanced, classy, and intricate. On the palate, this is an intense, concentrated, and serious wine, with ample tannin and, for this tasting, relatively vivid acidity, too. The fruit quality is just a little bit sweet and straightforward, but in other respects this is an excellent Garnacha from a place where the variety is very much at ease. | 90
David Williams | Bold, big—massive, in fact, in ripeness and intensity, with no stinting in tannic chew. Imposing—impenetrable?—with its tightly wound dark fruit. Hard to love. | 87
