Simon Field | Old-school, generous, sappy Rioja, broad and expansive rather than rigorous in its geometric inclinations. The fruit character recalls plums and cherries, and then a balsamic hint reminds us of provenance, its generous alcohol distinguishing it from its more Tempranillo-driven cousins, its structure less rigorous, its immediate charm notwithstanding! | 89

Andrew Jefford | Clear, mid-weight red; translucent. Some strawberry fruit here rather than being purely oaky, though the oak is also evident. Not a huge amount of aromatic character compared to the best wines in our tasting. Smooth, attractive, and urbane on the palate, with wealth and depth. Classically drinkable Rioja, though the emphasis on Grenache and any subregional character is subdued. A lovely wine to sip nonetheless. | 89

David Williams | Lovely translucent ruby color, and a gloriously pure and vibrant style. Superb concentration of red fruit, and such exquisite texture: refined and polished tannins and the Garnacha exuberance beautifully expressed without falling into kitsch. | 93
