Simon Field | Figs, herbs, red berries, and a faint trace of incense. Deep color, near onyx at the core. Crystalline focus and ripe fruit character. There is purity on the palate, herbs, rosehips, and cherry, bilberry, thyme, and the precious beauty of a Châteauneuf that is high in alcohol yet manages to maintain a lifted, softy-spoken charm, the leitmotif for an area that is apparently getting too warm. On this evidence, this does not appear to be an inherent problem. | 94
Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red, though not opaque. Rich, chocolaty, lush, and enticing: few terroirs can capture the aromatic sweetness of Grenache in such a graceful and beguiling, almost perfumed style as Châteauneuf. There is nothing overdone about it, though, and there is some thyme and dry-grass freshness, too. Ripe and flavory on the palate, with plenty of herbal notes to offset the sweetness, which in any case is less marked on the palate than the aromatic profile suggested it would be. Sound, satisfying, alluring. | 89
David Williams | Candied nose initially, a real sense of confectionary and glacé cherry in a wine of kirschy intensity and force with a patisserie creaminess and sweetness of fruit. It is far from unattractive, but it feels a little cumbersome in the company, with a ghost of spirity heat. | 87
