Simon Field | Attractive come-hither raspberry and wild-strawberry charm, near-Alpine freshness and youthful playful apeal. Lirac at its best always exudes charm, sometimes gravitas. In this instance, the charm takes the lead and does so deftly, not overwhelming with alcohol or structural ambition. Pretty, floral, and soon to be approachable, ready for the prom. | 88
Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark black-red. Suddenly a very different style of fruit from that of Châteauneuf: This is sweet, plummy, almost black cherry-like, very sweetly beguiling. There’s some orange and caramel stirred into that black-fruit mix, but little herb or spice, for example. On the palate, too, it is a complete charmer, round and mouth-filling, vivid and sweetly seamed. Plenty of serious extractive force, though, to lend the wine some legs in time; low acidity, but no lack of energy. Totally delicious Lirac, which makes an excellent case for this appellation as a Grenache site. | 91
David Williams | Ripe, open, fragrant, with a crème de mûre character. In the mouth, there’s a luxurious, cushioned feel: plump and velvety and immensely comforting, the alcohol successfully integrated, the tannins just so. | 90
