Simon Field | The color is a little strained, matted, and lacking anything approaching fluorescence; this suspicion translates to the palate, which is consciously volatile and structurally wobbly; the alcohol threatening to overwhelm the ensemble. | 85
Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red, though not opaque. Sweet, warm, and rich, with beefy plum fruits plus a touch of raisin—classic Grenache, in other words. There’s a little menthol behind. Attractive if a little simple. A slightly drainsy note, too. Deep, dense, sweet, and saturated, with ample tannins to balance the extravagantly sweet and beefy fruits. This is a terrific source of Grenache, I feel, and with some vinificatory tweaks this could be very good; it just lacks the purity and refinement for a top score. Exuberant and engaging. | 87
David Williams | Harmonious, composed, savory, and wonderfully multilayered: creamy and rich and flavoured, with currant and blackberry and dried herbs, a seasoning of saltiness, and ripe tannins. Satisfying, sustaining. | 92
