Simon Field | Matted straw and a mirror in need of a polish. The nose fails to excite very much, a touch reduced it seems, and the palate is lean and a touch aggressive. A little air and a little patience, and... the same result. Probably better with freshly landed fish, or a plate of smoked almonds. | 83
Andrew Jefford | Pale silver-gold. This wine combines some notes of tephra and volcanic debris with fresh lemon: pungent, classic, and enticing, even to the uninitiated. Unique also, needless to say, and probably the most aromatically enticing of all of the Santorini cohort. It’s also the most accessible, in the sense that conventional fruited charm is as evident as the terroir notes are. Highly accomplished on the palate, too: very fresh, pure, and precise, with a grassy freshness and well as a cool lemon intrigue. Once you are through those the saltiness comes flooding forward, offset by the high driving acidity. There’s a long finish in which you might find the tephra notes, though the acidity and saline richness are more prominent. A wine that deserves to be on every serious wine list, and the perfect “evangelist” wine for Santorini’s unique set of growing conditions. | 94
Demetri Walters | Terrific balance here: seashell minerality, lemon-juice precision, but also a custard-apple and yellow mirabelle richness and generosity. Superbly held together with a weave of acidity. Really lovely. | 95
