Michael Schuster | Dark purple; fine sweet nose, just on the cusp of oxidation; rich, fresh to vital, very fine in tannin; deep, sweet, sappy, and defined by a remarkable vitality for the hot-year summer, restrained in volume, but long and complex across the palate, racy, spicy, and here, too, the very faint oxidation just shortens the wine a smidgeon, takes off what is certainly its great polish. That said, this has a wonderfully defining freshness, great complexity and inner energy, and a pronounced spicy, mirroring length. A touch marred by the sample state, but clearly splendid. 2030–48+. | 94–95?
