Andrew Jefford: Dark black-purple in hue and very nearly opaque in this case—so, to find the light, blossom-lifted cherry fruits that this wine shows is almost a surprise; some oak, too, though well-judged and supportive. Aromatically very sweet and pretty. Vivid, full, and lively on the palate, with ample black-cherry and redcurrant fruit and firm tannic support; the oak once again evident here. Very classy wine in contemporary style, which needs some time to absorb that oak, as I trust it will; ample depth and structure for gastronomy. Look for a higher score still when the oak has settled. | 91
Jasper Morris: Dense ripe purple color, with some engaging smooth and deep dark red fruit, some black-cherry notes. There is no doubting the fruit weight here, and there is an agreeable perfume of fully ripe fruit—this wine has enjoyed the sunshine without taking on a heated feeling. The palate delivers fresher red cherries and is beautifully in balance. This will keep and develop well. | 90
Catherine Petrie: Deep purple. This has a particular freshness, both fruity and smoky, not unlike a Beaujolais Cru. Perhaps some whole bunches in the fermentation have added this characteristic. Its blueberry and damson aromas reemerge on the palate, surrounded by an abundance of powdery, ripe tannins. The mid-palate feels fresh and poised, but the finish fades away, leaving a slightly hollow finish filled by the tannins. An appealing early-drinker. | 85
