Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark though translucent black-red. Warm, sweet, soft, rounded: very attractive plum and red-apple scents, glass-filling and articulate, almost sugar-dusted. Vivid and intense fruits (raspberry and black cherry at first, plums and apples later) with juicy acidity and some clinging, tarry tannins. A very different style of ripeness to that of Sancerre, with more exoticism to it; indeed there is almost a grainy, malty note. Shapely and intense. Very dramatic and attractive Alsace Pinot Noir with delicious drinking qualities, even now. | 90
Jasper Morris: Clear, pure brisk purple. The nose is very engaging in a primary fruit style with floral notes (that we did not see in Sancerre at all). These continue on the palate. This is a wine of immediate charm which should stay the course. The flavor profile of sweet strawberries and peonies should intrigue over the next few years. Excellent aftertaste. This is certainly fully ripe without undue heat. | 90
Catherine Petrie: Medium ruby with purple flecks on the rim. The fruit smells so youthful that it has a distinctly raw character: cranberries and redcurrants. The palate retains some of that character, with a pronounced youthfulness that, at the moment, obscures any layers of complexity that might emerge with time. The tannins are crunchy but one-dimensional. The fruit is fresh and crisp, but it lingers on the finish and suggests this wine has a path to follow. | 86
