Andrew Jefford: Very deep black-red; translucent, but a deeper hue than its 2016 peers. Ample, sweet, warm, pippy raspberry fruits: much better aromatic fruit definition than most of its peers. Warm, enticing, and rich, with a quiet savory note, too. Aromatically this is an outstanding wine. On the palate, too, this is a magnificent Pinot: once again there is splendid aromatic and fruit definition, with some of the most deftly defined “raspberry” notes of all of the wines in the tasting. It has vivid, juicy, fruit-saturated acidity and brilliantly managed tannins; it is concentrated, ripe, resonant, and long. A commanding effort: bravo. Compared to the best of our Sancerre wines, its style of ripeness and balance is very different, more exotic and flamboyant, softer and more tender; but Alsace is a different place, and this moves the whole Pinot game along. | 93
Jasper Morris: Bright mid-red, starting to evolve. The bouquet suggests a little maturity as well. The fruit fills the mouth, offering more weight than I was expecting. It is quite a powerful wine but falls the right side of the line between those that offer a density of fruit and those that are overextracted. | 87
Catherine Petrie: Brilliant ruby. An abundance of sweet ripe summer berries edges toward a hint of volatile lift, but the wine just stays correct. The medium weight is given a little structure by some gentle tannins, but it feels a little soft on the finish. | 85
