Andrew Jefford: Dark, clear purple-red in color. Warm, meaty raspberry scents; slightly muddled, with a little sweaty reduction but complexity, too—so, overall, it’s an attractive scent from the off, in savory rather than pure-fruited style. Five minutes later that slight sweatiness is still apparent. Ample fruit and sweet fruit though with a pronounced bitter edge; ample tannic support. A good wine I would enjoy drinking, though the aromatic purity and faint bitter cast are quibbles; with air and food these may be less concerning than when tasted in isolation. | 88

Jasper Morris: A vigorous deep purple, perhaps a touch of volatility. Dark plum fruit, a little bit bacterial, with some spritz. The fruit on the palate is rich enough to give some pleasure, however. This wine will offend some and please others. | 84

Catherine Petrie: Deep brilliant ruby. This is the first wine of the flight to offer complexity that pushes beyond primary fruit character. Crushed raspberries and cherries dominate the fruit aromas. These are entwined with a subtle and pitch-perfect chime of reduction that gives the wine a savory direction. There is a leafy, minty freshness as well. The palate has a juicy, mellifluous flow. The fruit is kept in good order by the structural but finely layered tannins. A cool acidity flows through to the finish. This is ripe but fresh, with many unfurling layers: promising. | 89
