Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark, though translucent red-black, with just a touch of purple. Lively and articulate aromas, with plenty of currant and plum fruits and just a little of the sweet exoticism of Alsace. (Other tasters find TCA on this wine and we only have one sample; for me it is not TCA-affected, though it may have had an over-forceful filtration which has left it with some cardboardiness.) Dark, firm, dense, and deep, perhaps with some whole-bunch character, this is an ambitious, serious, close-knit wine with ample drive and depth. It doesn’t have the sweetly perfumed, seductive qualities of some of the other wines and the aromas have nonplussed; but I like its density, its concentration and force. | 89
Jasper Morris: Medium-deep purple, beginning to mature at the rim. A slightly hard edge to the nose, possibly a threshold TCA issue. I think this mars what would otherwise have been a very good wine. Not scored—but would be around 88 otherwise. | NS
Catherine Petrie: Medium ruby in the glass. Fragrant strawberry character on the nose. The palate has choppy tannins, cutting the finish short. It feels hard to judge—perhaps a bottle issue? | 80
