BUY THE WINE

Bruno Besa | Golden to straw. Open, mature nose, with cooked apples, camomile, orange blossom, dried herbs, and hints of toffee. Mature and rich palate, clean, with a mature, bruised-apple finish. | 91

Andrew Jefford | Mid yellow-gold. Relatively creamy and rich for Friulano; nutty and full, without any grassiness. Rather simple on the palate, without much length or depth of fruit. | 83

Michael Palij | Well, well. Just when you thought it was safe, out pops a mystery 2014 Friuliano. The color suggests a wine at its peak, and this is supported on the nose with developed, tertiary character including ginger, nutmeg, marzipan, and orange marmalade. That said, this is still rich and lively, with plenty of natural acidity allied to decent length. Not really my cup of tea but still in trim. | 87
