BUY THE WINE

Essi Avellan: Lemony color. Lifted and not fully clean on the nose, some woody dustiness and oxidation. Dry, charmless finish. | 83

Simon Field: Deep gold verging on amber, and a confident mature nose, oak and brioche, apples harvested late in a warm fall. Hints of Sherry and even rancio on the palate—wisdom and maturity for those who like such things, latent oxidation and fatigue for others; figs and hazelnut, old before its time yet not without a vinous satisfaction. I suspect this will divide the tasting panel, but I rather like its gregarious indulgence. | 94

Tom Stevenson: Volatile oak, extremely rich, intense fruit spoiled by volatile acidity. | 72
