Andrew Jefford | Very dark, deep, and alluring, with ample beefy fruits on the aroma; wet cut clay, too, with cut-flower sap and just a hint of damp fur. There’s a lot hidden away in the aromas of this Meyney, though a sense of freshness takes precedence over anything evidently sweet. It has much better weight and substance on the palate than most of its unclassified St-Estèphe peers, and in truth better ripeness, too. The acids are less dominant here, the fruits more resonant and wholesome, and there are supportive tannins. You could take this on a walk around your cellar for a decade or so, though in the final analysis it still doesn’t have much “great vintage” richness or force (which this property can easily acquire under the right conditions). | 90

Michael Schuster | Ripe fruit and subtle gravel to smell—a very nice nose already; medium-full, moderate in concentration, brisk in acidity, fairly firm in tannin; this is still a touch austere, and you miss the sunny ripeness of the best of 2015, but with a few more years, this will be a very satisfying St-Estèphe, because it has fresh definition, a gentle subtlety and length, too. Very nice, but needing more bottle age, clearly. 2023–30+. | 89
