Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red though not opaque. The aromatic fruit is singing and sweet (black cherry, black plum) suggesting ample ripeness, with palpable but supportive oak, bringing spice and resin as well as discreet vanillins. The freshness here is that of a pine forest rather than “leafy.” There are black cherry, black plum, and sweet damsons on the palate, with a handful of raisins tossed in for luck; that richness is ripely acid-lifted, the tannins are tender. Delicious charm here. | 92
Michael Schuster | Cassis-cored, just avoids the raisins, lightly gravelly nose; very nicely balanced, fresh, fleshy textured, finely tannic wine; sweetly ripe, rich yet contained, with a good length of flavor across the palate, and fine length to finish. Complete, elegant, classy Malartic. The juicy ripeness of the year clear here, so juicy that it is accessible now, with food to absorb the tannins. Seductively attractive. Subtlety likely to come with age. Now to 2035+. | 91
