Andrew Jefford | Dark though not quite opaque black-red. The scents have alluring ripeness, but seem at first slightly dry in style, perhaps due to youthful oak; there’s a touch of raisin, fig, and cognac warmth, which many will enjoy; and later a cream-of- mushroom savory richness. After five minutes in the glass, any sense of dryness has disappeared. The palate is concentrated, deep, and gathered, with hugely enjoyable currant and plum fruits and in truth less dried-fruit sweetness than the aromas suggested; it has freshness and vitality, and even a perfumed poise. Very good Pomerol in a complex, far-from-straightforward style of brooding intricacy. You can keep this with assurance for the mid-term, and don’t be put off by the 15% ABV—it is perfectly incorporated in that complex palate of carefully enunciated ripeness. | 92
Michael Schuster | Powerful ripe fruit and lightly mineral impressions on the nose; full-bodied, powerful, fairly tannic wine; a forceful ripe-fruited flavor of modest scope. Probably best drunk in its vigorous youth. Subtlety is not the point. Now to 2025. | 88
