Andrew Jefford | Dark, somber black-red. Brooding and earthy, a little soft-focus and swirled rather than pristine and focused; black plums with a little toffee; medicinal notes of eucalyptus and camphor. The palate is deep, dark, vivid, with more density than Hosanna and more minty-herbal freshness than La Fleur-Pétrus, yet there is ample sweetness, too. You can’t deny the wealth of Trotanoy, yet for me it is still rather soft-focus and vaguely defined, even a little soupy, compared to the best of its peers, though I am unsure as to why this should be so. Moreover, the ripeness isn’t quite homogenous here in a way that it is for La Fleur-Pétrus, though in sheer depth and density it has to be counted as one of the very best of Pomerol’s 2015 cohort. | 92
Michael Schuster | Closed, tight, fragrantly ripe nose; deep, sweetly fruited wine, long and savory to taste, spicy, complex, powerful long-term Pomerol, of great scope and potential; a very firmly framed, muscular keeper that will eventually give enormous satisfaction. Ample, potent, tannic, rewarding. 2030–50+. | 96
