Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red. Sweet toffee, dry grasses, truffley fruits: plenty of ripeness here. Aerial and attractive, but amply ripe. A touch of date and chocolate. Very lush, deep, sweet and toothsome; a great treat for those who enjoy, as I most certainly do, the richer style of Pomerol. Admirable, ample tannins; low acidity; gorgeous plum, blackberry, and damson fruits. I write “low acidity” and it is so; yet inside that plum, blackberry, and damson there is still plenty of vitality. Impressive concentration and density justifies this wine’s high score, though if you don’t like Pomerol with a lick of sweetness, you should probably steer clear. | 92
Michael Schuster | Sweet, subtle, fragrant, oak-tinged nose; rich, powerful, finely tannic, an excellent long-term balance; deep, sweetly ripe, savory Pomerol, with an abundant, juicy, complex flavor, spicy, subtle, and mouth-coating, all within a firmly tannic, Long-term frame, and with excellent, fragrant length. An especially fine Violette, large-scale, long-term. 2030–45+. | 95
