Stephen Brook | Rich and opulent for Barsac, with heady apricot and apple aromas. The attack is lean and sleek and intense, as one would expect from a Climens wine, and there is ample acidity. It’s a shade one-dimensional but has purity of fruit and finesse. It’s poised and balanced and moreish, and lacks some depth of flavor—which is probably why it’s a second wine. But this offers great pleasure and some cellaring potential, too. Long. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Mid- to sustained gold in color, with subtle notes of mushroom and honeycomb: very fine-grained and enticing. On the palate, too, this is an outstanding second wine, with gorgeous botrytis character and unctuous richness: worth seeking out. | 90
