Stephen Brook | Medium gold. This shows a classic stone-fruits nose, not super-expressive now, but elegant and fine-tuned, with delicate botrytis and a hint of citrus. Very silky on the attack, with a sleek, elegant texture and delightful purity of fruit, with no exotic elements. A copybook Sauternes, lifted and stylish, with no excessive fat or weight. Balanced, poised, and long, with a lemon-rind finish. | 95
Andrew Jefford | Deep, rich gold. Creamy, warm, mushroomy scents of banana, hazel, toasted almond, and cream sponge cake: very seductive. There is also a lovely buttered botrytized undertow to the aromatic profile, which leaves you dying to take a sip. As always with Rieussec, it is very sweet, very exotic, relatively developed but wonderfully engaging, piling spadeful after spadeful of lush, sugar-saturated but botrytis- complex fruits on your tongue. | 94
