Simon Field: A generous and youthful color reflected thereafter by ripe, forward, and precise fruit characteristic on the nose and a beguilingly handsome persona thereunder. The echo from the valley and its vast open spaces find expression in such a generous and effortlessly majestic statement of a great wine, fortified in Corinthian splendor. | 91
Andrew Jefford: Dark, deep, dense, and saturated in color, with a glossy midnight black-purple hue and lots of crimson-purple tears. The aromas are rather stealthy and fine-grained, delicate and understated at present, though one senses there is a huge amount here in the long run, intimated by the precision and sweet finesse of the aromatic profile. There are some warm, savory notes underneath, too. Very complete and enticing: blackcurrant, plum, licorice, tea. Deep, voluminous, finely detailed, and commanding on the palate, with a prettier style than some but giving little quarter in terms of its depth, tannic force, and penetration. A magnificent, complete Vintage Port that would not be intimidating even in youth but will age with the best. | 95
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque, lovely, plump, ripe fruit on the nose, showing restraint, ripe and minty. Quite overt, opulent in style on the palate, with firm, spicy tannins and a lovely, fresh, vibrant finish, spirit still evident but good mid-weight; medium- to long-term wine. | 90
