Simon Field: Deep color, old-school power, ripe and bursting with potential. The ripeness of the fruit seduces shamelessly, the grip behind guiding a favorable impression, inspiring confidence in a far from undistinguished future. | 90
Andrew Jefford: Dense, dark, midnight-black, saturated black-red: a kind of black hole in a glass! Will I be sucked over the event horizon? Wonderfully complex aromatic finesse here: a thick weave of black fruits, sumptuous and enticing, with all the spices and the tea leaves and the rose petals you hope will go along with these notes. Pure, complete, and commanding. On the palate, this is a big, exuberant, smiling, embracing 2016 Vintage Port with a huge amount to offer. Everything, in the end, except the density and intensity that could take it up to the very top level of score, since there are denser and more intense, more driven wines in this vintage, yet this is a carnival glass that will last very well indeed. | 91
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque, quite open on the nose, lovely berry fruit with a minty-green edge; spirit showing through quite clearly on the palate, some berry fruit but hard tannins and a lean finish. Skinny. I hazard a guess to say this doesn’t have the stuffing to last. | 82
