Simon Field: Big, bold, and beautiful, expansive and generous, silky and with a broad, fine weave; more flowery and feminine than some; the texture is beguiling but it maybe lacks the resonance and complexity of the best; a very attractive style nonetheless, starting to blossom.... Indeed, on the second tasting, a mere five minutes later, the inherent natural beauty is underlined, eloquent and almost elegiac, despite its youth. | 92
Andrew Jefford: Very deep, saturated, glossy black-red, with lots of leggy clinging to the glass. Bottle 1: TCA. Bottle 2: Very fine, powerfully fruity aromas, and ample classicism, too: all the black fruits crowding into the glass (blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry) and some blue fruits, too, sweetly beguiling; crushed citrus peels and tea leaf. A meaty urgency, also, to lend excitement. Enticing and articulate scents. On the palate, this is very deeply fruited, sumptuous and creamy, unraveling across the tongue like a velvet carpet. The tannins are fine-grained and supportive; indeed, surprisingly unobtrusive for this stage of proceedings, but that may be an effect of the wine’s wealth of black-cherry fruit. There’s plenty of the taste of tannin, at any rate (graphite-like; pencil lickings if you prefer). Hugely enjoyable. | 92
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque, with very ripe, open cassis fruit on the nose, a touch of hot country showing through; super-ripe and sweet in style, still in its bloom of youth with ripe tannins rising in the mouth, still raw around the edges, finishing with a flourish and showing great promise for the future. 2030+. | 93
