Simon Field: Ripe, rich, and powerful, the essence of finely rendered Vintage Port, unashamed in its flamboyant personality, unabashed in its alcoholic strength and understated, ironically, in its capacity to evolve, flourish, and give huge pleasure, its very potency a preservative propeller to future integration. | 91
Andrew Jefford: After a run of lighter wines, this is proper Vintage Port color: dense, saturated black-red, without a ray of light glinting through it. The aromas are very meaty, very earthy, animal, and almost grunty or porky; slightly odd, in truth. Perhaps such a young wine just needs lots of air; I will take a look in five minutes. But they don’t change much. On the palate, this is a deep wine, with concentration and drama but little charm. It will last, but will it be loved? | 87
Richard Mayson: Deep, inky black center, thin crimson rim; almost totally closed on the nose, with tight-knit mint and berry fruit underlying; rich and bold on the palate, super-ripe, vibrant berry fruit supported by broad, ripe tannins, very dense all the way through the finish and needing plenty of time to soften and open up. 2028–60. | 93
