Simon Field: Forthright color, dense mid-palate; a touch of amber at the rim; a gregarious, syrupy style, candy apple and figs to the fore; warming and approachable, but lacking the depth and subtlety of the best examples. | 86
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red, but not opaque at the wine’s core. Sweet, fragrant, lots of tea leaf; charming and enticing. Energetic and thrusting, but rather dry, without a lot of clinging fresh fruit, so the wine rather runs on its sugars and tannins, yet neither has the overwhelming power and thrust that you find in the 2003s. Nonetheless, a serious Port for the short term, and with some charm, too. | 85
Richard Mayson: Mid-deep, youthful color, purple rim. Strange nose, on the cusp of opening up but with something stony underlying. Sweet and jammy, quite loose-knit, and backed by spicy, peppery tannins; sound but without much depth and rather superficial on the finish. Drink now to 2030. | 82
