BUY THE WINE

Essi Avellan | Medium-deep lemon-gold. Some earthy and oxidative notes on the toffee-apple nose, with nutty tones. Second bottle better, but still a bit hollow on the palate. Short, severe, drying finish, despite the sweetness. | 86

Alex Hunt | Only pale gold in color, but quite advanced and dusty on the nose. The palate starts well, with fruit and bubbles nicely intertwined, but the finish is quite bitter. | 83

Tom Stevenson | First bottle faulty (a strange combination of oxidation and mercaptan or DDMS). Second bottle fresh, although definitely some maderization despite its pale color. Easier to sum up than describe, this is a youthful-looking wine with a low-pressure mousse of minuscule bubbles, with a somewhat simplistic palate that is aged in a maderized way. | 85
