Stephen Brook | Distinctly grassy nose, but not too vegetal, giving a slightly austere expression of Sauvignon. Fine attack, lean and racy, and more expressive than the nose. Silky and intense, and marked by a bracing chalky minerality. A classic style, with extract and verve, with overt fruit replaced by a reflection of the soil. Long and saline finish. | 93

Andrew Jefford | Pale gold. Fresh, leafy, discreet; a less aromatically forthright wine than many. Just a touch of onion here; it may well respond well to air. After five minutes, though, that brooding, slightly moody aromatic profile is still there. On the palate, the wine is clean, but the brooding, faintly bitter quality is still there. Might it be a terroir note of some sort? Or a result of picking decision or handling? It’s not unattractive... This is unquestionably good Sancerre, but somehow one’s expectations are maximized for the cru wines, and for me this doesn’t quite have the purity and precision of the very best. | 87

Stephan Reinhardt | This has a delicate and even floral/herbal bouquet of white fruits, passion fruit, and crushed stones and gravels. Very pure, fresh, and flinty. Great style. Juicy and finely racy on the palate, this is an elegant and refined Mont Damnés, with good concentration and a dense and powerful but refined and salty, very long finish. Everything is in place here, and the finish is as crunchy as it is dense and stimulating. A classic. | 94
