Stephen Brook | Bracing stony nose, saline rather than fruity. Good attack, with generous fruit and ample weight and assertiveness. It’s not that complex, or not yet, but has a welcome tanginess on the aftertaste. The palate lacks the zest of the nose, so it’s not particularly expressive or persistent. But enjoyable and quite long. | 87

Andrew Jefford | Pale gold. A little more muddled than the first two Chêne Marchand wines, though like them the main notes seem to be a planty freshness, a rich vegetative aroma. On the palate, this is quite a generous wine, with concentration and expansiveness. Green plant notes and ripe green fruits combine on the palate, though the “stony” support is a little more recessive here; again you get a glimpse of passion fruit in the fruit notes, which we didn’t see in either Mont Damnés or in Grande Côte. This is the most generously styled of the Chêne Marchand wines, and very satisfying. | 91

Stephan Reinhardt | Concentrated on the deep and fruity- spicy nose, this is a full-bodied, elegant, pretty powerful and densely textured Sancerre, with firm tannins and some drying bitters on the finish. Salty on the aftertaste. Still very young and closed at the moment. In any case, a pretty rich and powerful Sancerre. | 91
