Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | It will take its place after the 1959 in the developing legend, with more intensity at birth, more precision, a larger scale of flavors, and greater finesse in the tannin integration than in all the beautiful past vintages. Great wine, worthy of its pedigree. | 98
Michael Schuster | Dense but closed; freshly ripe Cabernet, minerally, subtle, complex, persistent, delicate! Very elegantly balanced, classic middleweight proportions, fresh, and with a very finely tannic Pauillac sinew; crisply sweet, juicy in impression, long, gravelly, graceful, a great tenacity of flavor across the palate, no excess weight or power, discreet, gradual to reveal itself, very tenacious to taste, full of a subtle understated inner energy and life; typically understated in its combination of power, delicacy, and transparency and then very aromatic, and subtly fruit-cored and spicy to finish. Great, substantial, gently muscular Long-term Lafite. A wine of considerable scope and long-term potential. Probably needs at least 20 years. 2038–68+. | 96–98
