BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | A Pichon of great stature, intense, aromatically noble, still a bit firm and rigid, but everything is there for aging, which will tame it. | 97

Michael Schuster | Dense, closed, but finely mineral nose; rich, ample, generous, and muscular in tannin; a fine blackcurrant and mineral flavor, powerful and sapid to taste, but a touch of warmth and hardness from its alcohol/acid/tannin combination; that said, very long to taste, ample, dense, and with fine aromatic length to finish. At this stage anyway, seems slightly ungainly, without quite the refined tannin texture of the best of the year, and some way from the class of its 2016. 2035–50+. | 93–94
