Michael Schuster | finely Sauvignon aromatic on the nose—no surprise, since it is, most unusually, 81% of the blend (the highest proportion ever) but refined and minerally, too; rich, full, atttractively fresh; an ample, graceful wine, very ripe to taste, fleshy, with lovely core fruit, mouthcoating, long and aromatically complex, very refined, full of a delicate, racy energy. A fine, complete Haut-Brion Blanc. In Burgundy terms, this remains grand cru in quality, if without the sinew, definition, and absolute scope of a great year. A gentle giant. And having recently enjoyed the 1982, magnificent at nearly 37 years of age, I expect that this will age gracefully, too. 2025–50. | 94–95
