Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | 33 of the 53 plots that can make Cheval have gone into this extraordinary wine. The depth is linked to the acidity and the tannins that answer back to one another. We have the cashmere texture of the greatest vintages, with an aromatic floral, and fruity palate that will surpass even the 1998. A great emotion. | 99
Michael Schuster | An intense nose, rich, fine, fragrant, red- and black-fruit ripe, persistent, tempting, perfumed; rich, fresh to vitally defined, very fine in velvety tannin, a fine Cheval balance; sweetly ripe, succulently fruited, wonderfully subtle, complex, fresh, noticeably racy, very long across the palate, excitingly fine, and with great aromatic, black-fruit-sweet persistence. A great, classic, sumptuous Cheval in prospect. A fruit concentration here that is of a different order from that of the Petit Cheval, while remaining absolutely effortless. Recalls 1990 and 1998, and is up to them in quality, maybe even better, probably more precise. What a wine. 2032–50+. | 97–99
