Simon Field | Straw color, a very gentle spritz; talcum powder and a faint recollection of the boudoir; apples and slightly overripe pears. The palate is sui generis; nectarine and honeysuckle, texture and glycerol, but all in a slightly minor key and without a flamboyant denouement. | 86
Andrew Jefford | A clear old-gold hue, with less yellow to it than for some of its peers. Ample billowing summer fruits here: a cloud of apricot, peach, and nectarine. Classical and attractive. Fruits dominate on the palate, in exuberant but relatively simple style. It’s not that the concentration is missing (far from it), but the fruits almost have a bonbon-like obviousness (with backing acidity). | 82
John Livingstone-Learmonth | Steady yellow robe; some pear in the hue. Broad, rather fat bouquet; notes of vanilla and tobacco, a hint of freshness, along with banana and apricot. The palate is a sturdy affair, a close-knit center with notes of orange and white plum in the flavor. It doesn’t really extend, sits center-stage without much movement. Thus it’s suited to white meats, sauced dishes, or a mushroom risotto. The leading 2017s will offer more flair than this. 2021. | 87
