Bruno Besa | Garnet to pink. Clean, open red-fruits nose, with some evident oak yet complex and mature, with small red fruits and herbal undertones. Medium to full body, with balanced tannins, sweet red fruit, cassis, wild strawberries, and a long, mineral finish. | 94
Stephen Brook | Ripe succulent raspberry and cherry nose, with an engaging clarity of fruit. Rich and lusty, with bold ripe tannins supporting the opulent fruit. A swaggering style that may lack some elegance but has welcome vigor and verve. Accessible now but it has ample structure and grip without roughness. Concentrated and weighty, but it also shows admirable energy. | 93
Andrew Jefford | Clear, light black-red. Exuberant, open, and perfumed: lots of currant and plum fruit, but there are other refinements layered into the aromas—vellum, fine leather, dried mushrooms and sweet fresh forest mushrooms, too. There’s an outstanding aromatic profile here. It’s generous in the mouth, with a core of firm red plum and pomegranate fruit and succulent, rich tannins, though not quite as aromatically refined as the scents promised. Nonetheless, Barbaresco fans will find much to enjoy, and more aromatic refinements may come with more bottle age. 2019–25. | 90
