Bruno Besa | Garnet to tawny. Open, intense, mature, layered nose, with a black-fruit, tar, smoke, forest-floor character. Medium to full body, muscular, layered black fruit, sweet black cherries, and a firm, long finish. A generous and complex Nebbiolo with a long life ahead. | 94
Stephen Brook | The nose exudes charm, with its limpid raspberry fruit showing clarity and elegance. There’s a burst of richness onto the palate, and this concentrated, explosive quality certainly compensates for a slight lack of acidity. The fruit is ripe and succulent and might be flabby were it not for the firm underlying tannins. It’s spicy, complex, and quite long—still on the solid side of the spectrum but balanced and satisfying. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Relatively dark-hued for this tasting. Earthy, slightly muddled, rather grunty aromas of stewed plums and cinnamon stick. Sweetly attractive in its own way, but much less classical than the best of its peers. The palate delivers exactly what the aromas promised. I’m loathe to give this wine a low score, since there is just so much in there to enjoy, and it is indeed very enjoyable, but it is not a “masterpiece of finesse” kind of Barbaresco. It is, though, generous, artless, and good. 2018–25. | 89
