Bruno Besa | Pale garnet to pink rim. Elegant, floral, lively, and inviting; a small-red-fruits and earthy, chalky nose, with rosewater, wild strawberries, smoke, and tar. Medium to full body, a vertical, complex, mineral palate, with cassis, red apples, and fresh herbs on the finish. Here Nebbiolo is allowed to shine at its best. | 94
Stephen Brook | Neutral red-fruits nose, which right now is humdrum. The attack is sleek and polished, but there’s a certain dourness on the mid-palate. This needs more acidity, lift, and tension, and it seems slack and even drab for young Barbaresco. Little exuberance or charm here, making this a dutiful rather than enjoyable wine. There’s no lack of fruit, but where’s the flair and drive? But the acidity does give a fairly long finish. | 86
Andrew Jefford | Very light and translucent: a deep strawberry red. Sweet, fresh strawberry and cherry fruits: very pretty, enticing aromas, if a little bit sweet. Just a touch of tar behind. On the palate, this is a juicy, bright wine, with impressive fruit poise and tenacity: very long and sustained, and packed with perfumed back-notes. There are well-judged, firmly styled balancing tannins without bitterness, and succulent acidity, too. 2018–24. | 92
