Bruno Besa | Garnet to pink. Ripe and a touch animal on the nose, with layered black fruit (prunes, blackberries), forest undergrowth, truffles, and road tar. Medium to full body, a touch rustic yet generous and complex, with prunes and smoke on the finish. | 91
Stephen Brook | The nose is closed, but there are lurking red-fruit and cherry aromas. A soft attack leads onto an expansive palate that is soon dominated by assertive but not green tannins. But there’s also spice and tension, and though the wine is not very expressive now, it has potential. It shows grip rather than charm or finesse, yet doesn’t appear to be too extracted. A bit dogged, maybe, but it should open with more time. Quite long. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark, clear red. Rounded and attractive, but slightly low-focus aromas: an engaging warmth of fruit nonetheless. The palate is well constructed and generous, with concentrated plum fruits; soft tannins shape the fruit. Satisfying Barbaresco. 2018–22. | 87
