Andrew Jefford | Classic pale gold. Sweet and fresh, with lots of primary fruits (apple and citrus) in relatively straightforward guise. In the mouth, too, this a simple, straightforward, and well-made wine with dry, well-developed fruit and just enough of a touch of musky grapefruit to suggest Scheurebe. Fair drinking, but perhaps a bit polite and unambitious in the context of this tasting. | 85
Anne Krebiechl | Mellow, ripe Red Delicious apple on the nose is tempered by ripe lemon freshness. The palate reprises the ripe fruit with tart citrus theme but frames it in terms of stone fruit and lemon zest. This is concentrated, juicy, joyful, and pure. A lovely, lively, energetic, and appetizing mouthful. | 92
Stephan Reinhardt | Very clear in color and also on the nose, which is rather dark and deep, with flinty notes of crushed stones and squeezed lemons, and indicates a remarkable concentration without losing its purity and terroir-driven soul. The palate is very pure, crystalline and elegant, as if sandstone has made this persistently salty and powerful wine that doesn’t receive its stunning length from alcohol but the deep-rooting vines and a highly talented vigneron who knows when the perfect moment to harvest has come. This Scheu is a dense and very elegant terroir wine, whereas the grape variety itself doesn’t play too important a role. If I were you I’d like to try it. Great aging potential of about 20 years. Are there any better wines in this tasting? | 94
