BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford | A very pale wine, silver-green, with some bubbles clinging to the side of the glass. Rather muddled, herbaceous-reductive aromas. Simple, sweet flavors, but an herbaceous cast that is eerie with the sweetness; I’m not sure how it is achieved. The overall effect is sherbetty and in its own way attractive, but there is little finesse here, and while fun to drink, it doesn’t really cut it as a fine wine. | 83

Anne Krebiechl | Candied lemon peel has a richer edge of candied mandarin on the nose. A lovely bergamot-peel aroma seeps through the sweet palate that brims with zesty verve. This is sweet but tart, intense but subtly aromatic without ever being heavy or too concentrated. This does not readily fit its category, being placed among botrytized wines, but it exhibits a lovely, serene balance. | 92

Stephan Reinhardt | This is one of those super-reductive German sweet wines that don’t give you anything but technical perfection. The palate is not just sweet and racy but rather soulless. It’s not racy acidity alone that balances a sweet wine. | 77
