Simon Field | A raw, somewhat grassy aroma, youth in the face of adolescence; nutmeg and chalky stone; the palate has old-school charm and rigor, upright and correct, its uniform maybe in need of a polish, the latent notes of fig and loganberry somewhat obscured. A little uptight and a little unformed. On second tasting the fruit holds up with more confidence and one comes to suspect that the old school in question may well be a source of pupils with a very fine if understated pedigree. | 88
Andrew Jefford | Deep, clear black-red in color. Lots of summer grass, crushed grain, and barley-straw-bale aromatic appeal in slightly raw, brut de cuve style. This will evolve later: youthful and fresh in a very southern kind of way. On the palate, this is a serious, well-made, firm, and well-balanced wine that I still think needs a year or two to settle and show at its best. The currant-and- plum fruit core promises well, and it has ample Languedoc character. Easy to overlook because it is less flamboyant than some of its peers, but it’s very good and may well merit a higher score in a year or two. 2018–24. | 88
Jancis Robinson | Dark crimson. Quite intense nose with a hint of putty and some concentrated dried-currant aromas. Sweet start and many a layer of intriguing flavor. A real black and red fruit cocktail here, offering considerable pleasure. Grainy texture and still youthful, but the potential is there. Slightly drying tannins on the very end at the moment but great lusciousness on the way there. 2020–28. | 90
