Simon Field | Dark ruby color, then an old-fashioned nose of large wood and black fruit, a little muted by the clutch of youth; the palate has a linear character, a floral backdrop, and gentle spice and eucalypt to confirm provenance. A touch of oxidation may blow off with time. | 86
Andrew Jefford | Dense, dark, saturated black-red. Sweetly oaky scents, but with a savory undertow, too; if there is fruit apparent on the nose, it lies at the late end of ripeness, out toward raisin. Deep, intense, and very serious on the palate, with impressive concentration, depth, and structure (close-grained tannins). All that holds me back from a high score here is the faintly raisiny ripeness combined with the oak. The acidity is low, but the tannin works to provide balance. I would greatly enjoy drinking this despite my reservations; it’s a serious and ambitious wine. 2018–23. | 89
Jancis Robinson | Purplish dense crimson. Lots of intriguing vitality here on the nose. A wine with real interest made from fruit on the borderline of overripeness. Juicy fruit on the front and then sufficient acidity and tannin for future potential. There is some rigor here and real density. Savor and black olives, with a ripe claret-like build. 2019–26. | 90
